Opel Speedster - car; photo wallpapers: The Opel Speedster is a roadster produced since early in 2001 by Lotus for General Motors's subsidiary Opel and is also badged as Vauxhall VX220 for British market. Both cars have a lot in common with Lotus Elise and they are characterized by strong performance and superb handling. Since the beginning of their production Speedster and VX220 were powered by GM's 2.2 L 16-valve Ecotec L61 engine producing 147 hp ECE (108 kW). Since 2003, they are also available with a 2.0 L turbocharged version of this engine producing 200 hp ECE (147 kW). The turbo version is able to reach the top speed of 242 km/h (151 mph) and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 4.9 seconds.
