Den�lson broke the record when Real Betis paid �22 million for his services to S�o Paulo, the club Den�lson had been with since 1995. In 1999/2000 he went on a brief loan to Flamengo. In 2005 Real Betis sold the Brazilian to French club Bordeaux for an undisclosed amount. He is world famous for his stand still step overs with many referring to the skill as the "Den�lson". For Brazil, Den�lson has been capped 61 times (as of 2005), scoring nine goals, since his debut in November 1996 against Cameroon. After helping his country to a second place finish at the 1998 World Cup, he then became a World Champion after Brazil won in 2002. Since Carlos Alberto Parreira became the coach of the Brazilian Football Team he hasn't been called and has been almost forgotten in Brazil.
