South African Crowned Crane: Balearica regulorum; Gruiformes Gruidae; South Africa; Grasslands and farmlands; Approx. 48" (1.2 m) (TL). Both sexes of South African crowned cranes dance, most often prior to the beeding season. These are the only cranes that roost in trees.
